What's in a Groove?

  1. What’s in a groove, Spiritual balance? Right, no off chords or rhythms, everything’s locked in the pocket, harmony man. If you know me, you can tell I’ve been playing my guitar and of course laying some tracks. I can’t even walk around without hearing music in my head. The beat dictates my pace and every move. Put that to music, :]).

I’ve struggled some since last weekend, having to go to the ER last Saturday. No big deal, the Lord always takes good care of me. I still have to worry about my balance when walking, and I’m dealing with rheumatoid arthritis, which at times is pretty painful all over my body. Mostly my shoulders, down through my back and arms are in long lasting pain. The med I now take for the RA seems to be working though, giving me some relief. I plan to get into the gym a little in July, that’ll help a lot. I’ve lost a good amount of weight since 2007. At the time I got sick I was over 300 pounds. Wow, so uncomfortable. Now I’m around 250, but I need to work on the love handles I’ve developed. :]) What’s a big guy supposed to do?

I went to Matt Talbot Center this morning for my drug/alcohol support group. They had a commencement for four men that had finished different phases of outpatient D/A treatment. One man had completed one year in the program. After the event I stayed to eat a little lunch and fellowship with the clients. It’s a co-ed program that is Christian based. When I was directing the UGM’s New Vision recovery program some yrs ago, the two programs shared services to give clients a broader base of support. NV only served men residentially, but when we paired the two programs men women and kids and family were able to take advantage of extended methods and services. We did a lot of events together, like Christmas, New Years and the like. It was really quite powerful.

Is it really summer time? My poor house is so cold; I may have to go outside to stay warm. With the rain, I don’t know if we’re gonna have sunshine again this summer. Maybe, if I get a sun lamp and fire it up. :]) But when I’m in my studio and jammin’, I don’t notice the cold. That’s the solution man!

I hope to find a way to post some of our music on the blog or maybe FaceBook. Now that would be the way to go. I’ll be getting with a number of poets and lyrists this summer to get some new material recorded. Then put them all on one CD by the Fall. There’s a goal. Let’s push it Lord! Bumpin’!

Maybe I can get a night together for some of my musician friends to do a one night tribute ECBF’s old Jazz Night. Sounds like a plan. If you think so too, give me a call, (206) 799 3684, or hit me up on the blog. Huh? Yea!

    Love in Christ,

    Freddy

  2. I think a one night tribute to Jazz Night is the plan. Sandy would be in to spice'n the place up. We should work on that, folks are always asking.

    Peace,

    Steve
